5 Hour Rule To Become Success

We have seen successful college dropouts like Bill Gates, Mark Zuckerberg making the empire of their own. But, we always wonder how did they make it happen. Is there any secret trick for making it happen? Yes, if you take the tip as a trick then there is! Most of us come back home tired after our college/office and directly get on the sofa or bed and make ourselves comfortable. We switch on the TV and eat or sleep. Obviously, we need to relax ourself which is necessary for our health. But, there are other ways of doing it.

Thomas Corley made a study on nearly 200 self-made millionaires and he found things in common between all of them. All the people preferred to read books to make themselves feel relaxed. Nearly 86% of the millionaires claimed that they read during their free time. Many also said that they listen to audio books while during their morning work. Hence, we can easily understand by this that reading is very much important to become successful. There are many ways of doing that. A person can read the news, fiction and non-fiction books, read blogs and so on. If you are a person who travels quite a lot, you can get your hands on audiobooks or podcasts.

But, we all are super busy. Between maintaining our college/office life and family life, we hardly find any time for ourselves. Every one of us might think that we will never find time for reading or even listening to books in our day to day life. But if even Barrack Obama could find time to read inside White House, we can make time for ourselves too.

For doing this, most of the people follow a five-hour rule in their day to day life.

The Five Hour Rule

The one and the only way to learn every day or at least a few hours a week is by following the Five Hour rule. It was coined by Michael Simmons when he observed the life of Ben Franklin. He said that “No matter how busy Ben was, he always used to assign 5 hours every week for doing something from which he learned new things. In our life, we should assign 5 hours every week or an hour per weekday to try and learn something new. By this, at the end of the week, we will have 5 hours of extra learning”.

There is no fixed way of doing this. It depends on the person when he wants to allocate the hour for learning something. The ideal time for which most of the people prefer is the morning hours after waking up. It depends on the person and their schedule but doing this is a very important part of our life.

For example, Elon Musk read books about how to build rockets and he founded SpaceX. Mark Zuckerberg, Bill Gates also allocate their time from busy schedule to read books and learn something new.

If you are not finding the time, allocate 20 to 30 minutes in the beginning and later make it an hour per day. With this, you will have nearly 5 hours every week to learn something new.
