Afghanistan’s Minister of Agriculture, Irrigation and Livestock, Mawlawi Attaullah Omari, has highlighted the profound cultural and historical connections between the two nations during an official trade forum in the national capital. Speaking at the India-Afghanistan Trade Opportunities Industry Interactive Session, organized by the PHD Chamber of Commerce and Industry under the guidance of the Ministry of External Affairs, the visiting minister expressed deep appreciation for his reception, stating, “Our DNA is one”. The diplomatic visit comes at a time of rising cross-border friction and strained political relations between Kabul and Islamabad.
Observers note that by emphasizing a shared civilizational legacy, the Afghan administration is focusing heavily on developing strong trade channels and securing a dependable regional partner to help navigate current economic challenges. During his inaugural trip to the country, Omari remarked, “This my first trip to India…From the very first day I landed in India, I received a warm welcome from the Indian government, the Minister of External Affairs, and everyone I met.” He further commented, “It feels as if I am among my own people…It feels like our own country, and as you mentioned, our DNA is one…” The minister stressed that the positive reception acts as an encouraging signal for the people of Afghanistan.
Pointing out that eighty percent of the domestic population depends entirely on livestock, farming, and irrigation infrastructure, Omari emphasized that the current priority is to integrate modern technological tools to upgrade agricultural yields and improve overall crop management.
