Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday urged citizens across the country to take precautions amid intensifying heatwave conditions affecting several parts of India. In a message shared on social media platform X, the Prime Minister appealed to people to remain hydrated and assist others during the ongoing spell of extreme summer temperatures.
“Different parts of India are witnessing soaring temperatures and the challenges that come with it. This heat is harsh on all of us and I urge you all to take as many precautions as possible,” Modi wrote.
He further advised citizens to prioritise hydration and safety while stepping outdoors. “Please stay hydrated, keep water with you when stepping out. Offer a glass of water to others. In weather like this, such kindness goes a long way,” the post added.
The appeal comes as multiple states continue to experience severe heat conditions, with temperatures crossing normal seasonal averages in several regions. Weather agencies have issued advisories in parts of north, central and western India, warning of prolonged exposure to extreme heat and dehydration risks.
Health experts have also recommended avoiding outdoor activity during peak afternoon hours, increasing water intake and taking precautions against heatstroke, especially for children, elderly individuals and outdoor workers.
The Prime Minister’s message quickly gained traction online, with many users sharing heat safety advice and supporting the call for community care during the summer season.
