The Mumbai Police have arrested two individuals, including a trusted long-term employee, following a major data theft at Tiger Baby Digital LLP, the production house helmed by filmmakers Zoya Akhtar and Reema Kagti. The incident came to light on Monday, May 25, 2026, after an executive assistant lodged a formal complaint at the Bandra police station. An internal audit revealed that 66 hard disks, with individual storage capacities ranging from 16TB to 72TB and valued collectively at over ₹13 lakh, were missing from an office cupboard.
Investigators quickly apprehended 28-year-old support staffer Mohammed Shahid Azim Khan, who confessed to systematically stealing 24 hard drives over five months. Khan, who was responsible for the safekeeping of the media assets, sold the devices for ₹15,000 to ₹20,000 each to a stationery shop employee, 44-year-old Ritesh Suresh Shah, who was also arrested.
The stolen drives contained vital intellectual property, including raw footage, post-production backups, rough edits, and archival material for prominent OTT and film projects like Made in Heaven and Ghost Stories. The accused told authorities they were purely interested in reselling the hardware and had no interest in the content itself. Both men have been remanded in police custody until May 29.
