Sri Mandir’s AppsForBharat Bags $18M in Series B Funding

Sri-Mandir, the parent company of AppsForBharat, an online devotional startup has secured an $18 million fund in a series B round led by Fundamentum Partnership, an investment firm founded by Nandan Nilekani. In addition to Elevation Capital, Peak XV, and Mirae Asset VC, the round also attracted participation from Susquehanna Asia VC. With the fund, the Sri Mandir app will be able to expand its operations both domestically and abroad, add more temples, introduce new services, and develop “a comprehensive tech stack for the devotional ecosystem.”

Prashant Sachan led AppsForBharat allows users to access a plethora of devotional content, perform pujas, and offer products as part of the rituals, all from the comfort of their homes. With over 30 million app downloads, the platform offers a thorough list of over 50 temples. Through the Sri Mandir app, more than 500,000 devotees have performed 2.7 million pujas and offerings at temples throughout India in the previous year.

“We plan to add spiritual tourism, make special Darshan tickets available, and offer smooth Prasad and related devotional items delivery throughout the next five years. Our goal is to turn Sri Mandir into a comprehensive digital technology platform that supports all facets of the spiritual path,” stated Prashant Sachan, the CEO and founder of AppsForBharat.

Over the next year, the Sri Mandir app will extend its temple listing tenfold throughout India, make itself available to devotees in five new regional languages, and create a strong ecosystem for spiritual tourism. The firm also wants to expand its global operations in important markets including the USA, UK, and Canada while strengthening its foundation in India.
