Lumikai Invests in MPL’s Mayhem Studios for Growth and Expansion

Mayhem Studios, a mobile game development studio under MPL (Mobile Premier League), has secured an undisclosed amount of investment from Lumikai. The round also saw participation from investors including Peak XV Partners (formerly Sequoia India), Steadview Capital, Truecaller, Hashed Emergent, Base Partners, and Moore Strategic.

Mayhem Studios previously raised $20 million in a Series A round in April last year, co-led by existing investors.

The new investment will be used to scale operations, accelerate game development, expand the development team, and enhance technological capabilities. This funding aims to support the studio’s growth and innovation efforts.

Founded in 2022 by Ojas Vipat, Mayhem Studios is known for its flagship product, Underworld Gang Wars (UGW), a AAA battle royale game. The game integrates Indian culture and aesthetics, featuring iconic locations, unique characters, and culturally relevant elements to provide an immersive experience for players.

Mayhem Studios exited the closed beta phase for UGW in May 2024 and is preparing for an open beta. The platform claims to have 7.5 million registrations to date.

In the competitive mobile gaming sector, Mayhem Studios stands alongside other notable startups like Ubisoft, Zynga, Playsimple, Moon Frog, and Playmotion.

Lumikai is a venture fund focused on interactive media and gaming, with a portfolio that includes startups such as Bombay Play, Elo Elo, All Star Games, Supernova, Autovrse, and Vobble.

This investment underscores Lumikai’s commitment to supporting innovative gaming ventures and expanding the reach of promising studios like Mayhem Studios.
