Google has partnered with ElectricPe to enhance the electric vehicle (EV) charging experience in India. This collaboration will integrate ElectricPe’s charging station data into Google Maps, allowing users to view the availability and status of EV charging points in real-time.
The feature will be accessible via both Google Maps and Google Search and is planned for expansion to other regions.
ElectricPe, an EV charging aggregation platform, has raised $8.29 million to date from investors including Blume Ventures. Co-founded in May 2021 by Avinash Sharma and Raghav Rohila, the startup connects users to charging stations across India. The ElectricPe app enables users to scan QR codes to charge their vehicles and complete payments seamlessly.
The Bengaluru-based company operates over 25,000 public chargers in Bengaluru, making it the largest network in the city. ElectricPe has also partnered with Hero Electric to set up charging points in various locations such as apartments and commercial complexes.
India is projected to have over 5 million public charging stations by 2030, reflecting the growing demand and infrastructure development in the EV sector.
In a related move, Google recently announced a significant price reduction for its Maps platform services in India, cutting costs for developers by up to 70% starting August 1. This reduction follows a call from industry leaders to consider local alternatives such as Ola Maps.
This strategic partnership aims to improve EV infrastructure and user experience, contributing to the broader adoption of electric vehicles in India.
