In a social media post that has rapidly gained traction, an employee named Supriya shared a unique request sent to her Human Resources department, citing national interests as the basis for a year-long work-from-home (WFH) arrangement. The email suggests that her decision to work remotely until May 10, 2027, is a direct response to Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s recent appeal for citizens to reduce fuel consumption. Amidst rising oil prices and escalating tensions in West Asia, Supriya framed her request as a personal contribution to the country’s stability, stating, “This is the least I can do for my country. Thank you.”

The Prime Minister recently urged a return to remote work practices to mitigate the impact of record-high fuel costs, which have reached historic peaks in several nations due to the ongoing Iran crisis. Recalling the digital systems developed during the pandemic, the PM noted, “During the Corona period, we adopted work from home, online meetings, video conferences, and developed many such systems. We had also become accustomed to them.” Following the viral post, Supriya encouraged others to follow suit, asserting that she had fulfilled her civic duty.
