Authorities in the state of Jalisco, Mexico, have initiated a targeted search for a mysterious vigilante operating under the moniker “Mexican Batman” or the “Batman of Lagos de Moreno.” The individual is accused of hunting down suspected motorcycle thieves, assaulting them, and securely duct-taping them to urban lampposts. The unconventional string of incidents began on June 13 in the municipality of Lagos de Moreno, with local law enforcement confirming at least five documented cases occurring over 10 days.
Operating primarily under the cover of darkness, the masked figure leaves retrieved motorcycles parked directly beside the restrained individuals as evidence of their alleged actions. Photographic evidence circulating widely across social media platforms depicts the bound men with cat whiskers drawn on their faces alongside the word “ratero”—the Spanish term for thief—prominently scrawled across their foreheads.
State Security Secretary Juan Pablo Hernandez clarified that investigators are currently treating the restrained individuals as victims of physical assault rather than criminals. Law enforcement personnel have identified two specific vehicles potentially linked to the nighttime encounters and are actively investigating whether the actions are being carried out by a lone actor or an organized group.
