Anant Ambani Completes Traditional Tonsure at Tirumala Temple

Reliance Industries Executive Director Anant Ambani visited the Tirumala Sri Venkateswara Swamy Temple in Andhra Pradesh on Sunday to offer prayers and participate in sacred rituals. Arriving at the hilltop shrine around 1 am, Ambani took part in the early morning Suprabhata Seva, the ceremonial awakening ritual of the presiding deity. Following his darshan, the Executive Officer of the Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams (TTD) presented him with a sacred memento and prasadam, while temple priests bestowed Vedic blessings.

A notable aspect of the pilgrimage was Ambani undergoing the traditional tonsure ritual, donating his hair to Lord Venkateswara. Tonsure is a centuries-old practice observed by millions of devotees at Tirumala as an act of humility, gratitude, and spiritual surrender. The gesture garnered significant public interest online, as his long hair had been one of his most recognizable personal features during recent years.

Dressed in a traditional white veshti and angavastram paired with a red-and-gold ceremonial shawl, Ambani spent time feeding elephants and visiting the temple goshala (cattle shelter) after the ceremony. He subsequently concluded his pilgrimage by paying respects at the Sri Padmavathi Ammavari Temple in Tirupati.
