Google has introduced its AI assistant Gemini’s mobile app in India, expanding its reach beyond English to nine local languages including Hindi, Bengali, Gujarati, Kannada, Malayalam, Marathi, Tamil, Telugu, and Urdu.
The Gemini app allows users to interact via typing, voice commands, or image inputs to access various forms of assistance.
Alphabet and Google CEO Sundar Pichai announced the launch on social media, highlighting enhancements such as Gemini Advanced now supporting local languages and new features like data analysis capabilities and file uploads.
Amar Subramanya, Vice President of Engineering at Gemini Experiences, noted the rollout of Gemini in Google Messages for English users, enhancing collaboration capabilities.
Gemini Advanced boasts a 1 million token context window, setting a new standard among consumer chatbots globally.
The app’s availability on iOS will be gradually expanded via the Google app in the coming weeks.
This move underscores Google’s commitment to providing advanced AI capabilities to Indian users, enhancing accessibility and functionality across multiple languages and platforms.
