Flipkart has introduced a platform fee of INR 5 on its quick commerce service, Flipkart Minutes, and an additional INR 3 fee on its main e-commerce platform. This move aligns the Walmart-owned company with other major quick commerce players such as Swiggy’s Instamart, Zomato’s Blinkit, and Zepto, which charge similar handling fees.
The new fee structure excludes Flipkart’s grocery service and its travel vertical, Cleartrip. Flipkart’s fashion arm, Myntra, already follows a similar fee model. This development, first reported by YourStory, coincides with Flipkart’s renewed push into the quick commerce segment through Flipkart Minutes, which promises delivery within 8-16 minutes in select locations.
While Blinkit and Instamart charge INR 4-5 per order, Zepto’s handling fee stands at INR 9.99. However, Flipkart’s direct competitors Amazon and Meesho do not currently impose any platform or handling fees.
This fee introduction comes at a time when Flipkart is driving international sales for parent company Walmart. In Q2, Flipkart recorded double-digit topline growth alongside improving contribution margins, underlining the company’s growing momentum in the Indian quick commerce market.
