Fact Check: Viral Video Shows Muslim Man Giving Adhan Inside a German Church

Some of you must have seen this video where a Muslim man is reciting the Adhan in a Church full of Christians. The clip has sparked widespread debate online, with many claiming that an imam was invited to perform the Islamic call to prayer during a Christian service but what is the context behind that video?

>> Watch Video Here <<

Well, according to many social media posts this video is a German church where an imam was invited to chant Muslim prayers during Christian service. With this single context hundreds of people posted this video, but none of them provided the exact location, event, date and not even the Church name.

However we identified the exact church by matching the interior architecture shown in the viral video. The location in the video is identified as:

  • Evangelical Stadtkirche Schorndorf
  • Schorndorf, Baden-Württemberg, Germany.

Evangelische Stadtkirche, Schorndorf

Multiple visual elements in the church match the viral video (altar, organ, arches, lighting, interior layout, etc.)

By the name of the Church and location we found out the exact event that is going viral on social media.

The event took place on 16th November 2025. And it was a concert by Karl Jenkins’ The Armed Man: A Mass for Peace.

The Adhan was part of Karl Jenkins’ original composition. However the viral video contains only the Adhan segment rather than the full concert, contributing to widespread misunderstanding online.

Why was the Adhan included at all?

The Armed Man: A Mass for Peace is an anti-war musical composition by Karl Jenkins, that includes texts and prayers from multiple religious and historical traditions, including the Islamic call to prayer.

Reported by the German Media:

During the investigation, we found limited reporting of this event, One local German publication provided additional context after we identified the church. According to the local German media, the person performing the Adhan was a member of the Ahmadiyya Muslim Community and the Imam himself attended this event as a member of the audience. The Adhan was performed because it was part of the main event.

According to the local German publication, Church reported that the viral video was recorded by someone from the audience and posted without the context and with no footage of the entire event, because the complete event lasted around an hour.

However Church representatives Pastor Dorothee Eisrich and district cantor Julian Handlos said they anticipated that parts of the composition might require explanation because the work includes emotionally powerful material about war, violence and religion. Before the performance, both the musicians and the audience were given an introduction explaining the composition and its message.

Pastor Eisrich also added that she understands why people unfamiliar with the full performance might initially find the clip surprising, but she stresses that the video was taken completely out of context.

What our Investigations says:

We searched Youtube Channels, Facebook Pages, X(Twitter), Ahmadiyya sources, and Church pages but we could not find the complete recording of the event anywhere, all we found is the viral video with no context which was recorded by someone from the audience.

Not the first time:

This is not the first time Jenkins’ composition has generated controversy; there were debates over performance in Konstanz (2013) and Singen (2009) whether they should include the muezzin section. However the complete work including the Islamic prayer was performed.

We found that composer Karl Jenkins previously responded to similar criticism by saying people had misunderstood the purpose of the work, which is intended as a message of peace for all people regardless of faith.

What Church said about the controversy:

Church leaders stated that they do not regret staging the event and removing Islamic prayer would undermine the central message.
