In a fresh development in the ongoing BharatPe fraud investigation, Deepak Gupta, brother-in-law of the company’s former CEO Ashneer Grover, has been arrested for his involvement in the alleged embezzlement of company funds.
Gupta has been accused of instructing a key vendor, Bansal, who was also arrested earlier in connection with the fraud case.
The arrests follow an in-depth investigation into the financial irregularities uncovered after the resignation and removal of Ashneer Grover and his wife, Madhuri Jain, from BharatPe.
The internal investigation revealed several instances of misconduct and irregularities in the company’s finances, which led to the arrests of individuals linked to the alleged scam. Multiple witnesses were questioned during the investigation, which uncovered Gupta’s involvement in orchestrating fraudulent activities within the company.
