Absolute Sports, a subsidiary of Nazara Technologies known for its sports media brands Sportskeeda and Pro Football Network, has acquired all intellectual property (IP) assets of Deltia’s Gaming LLC, a US-based gaming content platform, for Rs 7.5 crore ($900,000) in an all-cash deal.
The acquisition was announced on August 6 and is expected to enhance the company’s presence in the US gaming and esports media publishing sector.
This acquisition marks Absolute Sports’ third foray into the US market, following the purchase of sports media firm Pro Football Network for Rs 16 crore ($1.82 million) in March 2023 and entertainment content destination SoapCentral for Rs 11.6 crore ($1.4 million) in June 2024. The deal will be funded using the company’s cash reserves and is anticipated to close within the next 45 days.
“With this acquisition, Absolute Sports will now serve upwards of 5 million US gaming enthusiasts with high-quality gaming and esports-related news and analysis content on our various properties,” said Ajay Pratap Singh, CEO of Absolute Sports.
Founded by Jacob A. Hausman, Deltia‘s Gaming began as a YouTube channel in 2014 and later expanded to include a Twitch streaming channel and a standalone website in 2021. The site, which focuses on massively multiplayer online games, is known for its gaming guides and tutorials, attracting a user base of nearly 1.5 million readers monthly. DeltiasGaming.com reported revenues of $575,000 (around Rs 4.8 crore) for the year ending June 2024.
Under this deal, Absolute Sports’ US subsidiary, Sportskeeda Inc, will acquire all IP rights of Deltia’s Gaming, including domain rights, trademarks, content, website, and software codes. This acquisition provides Absolute Sports with access to a large audience on YouTube and Twitch under the Deltia’s Gaming brand.
The United States remains the largest market for Sportskeeda’s parent company, Nazara Technologies, accounting for approximately 69.1% of the company’s revenues in FY24. Absolute Sports’ revenue from the region was Rs 135.4 crore in FY24, compared to the overall revenue of Rs 196 crore.
In March, Nazara Technologies announced a $100-million investment plan for global expansion over the next 24 months.
