Y-Combinator-backed BNPL fintech startup BharatX has announced its acquisition of healthcare finance startup Zenifi to expand into the medical lending segment. This strategic move marks BharatX’s foray into a crucial and underserved sector, leveraging its existing expertise in credit solutions.
As part of the acquisition, Zenifi‘s Co-founder and CEO, Padam Kataria, will join BharatX as the Head of Business – Healthcare. Kataria will spearhead the development of BharatX’s healthcare lending vertical. “This acquisition will allow BharatX to delve deeper into the healthcare vertical, where neither fintech nor traditional players are currently able to disburse credit instantly, which is essential in emergency healthcare,” stated Mehul Jindal, Co-founder and CEO of BharatX.
Zenifi, founded in 2023 by Kataria, Harshit Shrivastava, and Rajendra Kulkarni, quickly gained traction in the healthcare sector by providing affordable payment options. With partnerships across multiple hospitals and aggregators, Zenifi generated an annual demand rate of over ₹1.2 crore. “We have firsthand experience in making medical lending easy and accessible. With BharatX’s well-established credit as a service, the synergies between the two companies will accelerate our market capture,” said Padam Kataria, CEO of Zenifi.
This acquisition is set to allow BharatX to break into the healthcare sector, which is ripe for disruption and represents one of the largest sectors in need of credit. BharatX’s success in online shopping credit solutions positions it well to make a significant impact in healthcare lending.
“Healthcare is a critical area where instant credit can make a significant difference, especially in emergencies,” noted Jindal. “Our goal is to leverage our expertise and Zenifi’s established presence to offer seamless and rapid credit solutions to patients in need.”
The acquisition underscores BharatX’s commitment to innovation and expanding its reach into new verticals. By integrating Zenifi’s healthcare finance capabilities, BharatX aims to create a robust platform that addresses the urgent need for accessible medical lending solutions.
As BharatX continues to grow, this strategic expansion into healthcare finance is expected to enhance its market presence and provide much-needed financial support to patients, further solidifying its position as a leader in the fintech industry.
