Musk says no college degree required to work at Tesla. What he wants?

Tesla, the company which has excelled in almost every automobile milestone. Every engineer wishes to join the company some or the other day. But what about those who’ve got skills but no degree? Looks like they don’t need to worry anymore. Elon Musk tweeted on Sunday saying no college degree required to work at Tesla.

As soon as he tweeted this, recall from the 2014 interview at the German Auto Bild buzzed in the head.

Musk said, “There’s no need to even have a college degree at all, or even high school.” He quoted this after he was asked whether he considers a degree from an elite college. No high school degree required as well, all he looks at is the potential of the employee.

Rather than a degree from a prestigious university or even a decent high school, he believes in the employee’s potential and “evidence of exceptional ability.” He has thought that with the potential and ability, a lot can be brought out.

The Tesla CEO went on saying, “If somebody graduated from a great university, that may be an indication that they will be capable of great things, but it’s not necessarily the case.” Universities don’t define a person anyways!

He then quoted, “If you look at, say, people like Bill Gates or Larry Ellison, Steve Jobs, these guys didn’t graduate from college, but if you had a chance to hire them, of course, that would be a good idea. If there’s a track record of exceptional achievement, then it’s likely that that will continue into the future.”

Conclusion

Elon is an undergraduate from the University of Pennsylvania in the field of Physics and Economics. He said when he interviews an employee, he asks them the biggest challenges they’ve faced and solved. He then goes asking them about their career experience by far.

In order to assure the person isn’t plagiarising a problem faced by someone else, he goes into great detail about the problem. Smart, isn’t it? Because if they wouldn’t have faced the problem, they won’t be able to answer it.
