6. NIOS

In order to meet the needs of a diverse group of learners up to the level of a pre-degree diploma, NIOS is an “Open School”. The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has been working on this project since 1979, which was designed with flexibility in mind.

The National Policy on Education suggested that the Open School System be strengthened for strengthened. This was extending open learning facilities in a phased manner at the secondary level across the country as an independent system with its own curriculum and examination system resulting in certification to the participants.

What is the purpose of NIOS?

There are several open and distance learning (ODL) courses and programs in which the National Institute of Open Schooling (NIOS) provides opportunities for students who are interested in pursuing a university degree.

Students in the Open Basic Education (OBE) program can attend classes III, V, and VIII of the formal school system, equivalent to classes III, V, and VIII of the open basic education program.

7. NCERT
