Kapiva, a homegrown D2C ayurvedic nutrition brand, has successfully raised Rs 83.5 crore (approximately $10 million) from existing investors. The round was led by OrbiMed Asia with contributions from 3One4 Capital and Vertex Ventures. Kapiva plans to utilize this funding for company expansion and development, bringing its total raised funds to over $30 million.
The fresh investment is part of Kapiva’s ongoing Series C round, where it aims to secure Rs 250 crore in total. The board passed a resolution to issue 5,62,631 compulsory convertible preference shares for this round, marking a significant milestone in Kapiva’s growth journey.
Founded in 2015, Kapiva offers a wide range of natural health and skincare products targeting hair fall, digestion, diabetes, and more. With a focus on leveraging ayurvedic nutrition, the company has positioned itself as a leading player in the crowded D2C Ayurveda market, alongside competitors like Upakarma Ayurveda and Dr. Vaidya’s.
During the fiscal year ending March 2023, Kapiva achieved an 87% year-on-year growth, recording Rs 116.48 crore in revenue, although the company’s loss stood at Rs 64.5 crore for the same period.
The company has also expanded its ESOP pool to attract talent, bringing the pool size to Rs 66 crore with 4,47,741 shares. This strategic move comes as Kapiva continues to enhance its operations and push for further expansion.
