SUMMARY

  • Uber has partnered with Shadowfax to integrate its two-wheeler fleet into the UberMoto platform.
  • Shadowfax drivers will fulfill bike-taxi requests through the Uber app, maintaining the rider experience.
  • Shadowfax plans a ₹3,000 crore IPO to expand two-wheeler services and enhance its logistics operations in India.

Uber, the global ride-hailing giant, has announced a strategic partnership with logistics provider Shadowfax to integrate its two-wheeler fleet into the UberMoto bike-taxi offering. This collaboration allows Shadowfax to utilize its fleet during lean work hours to provide bike-taxi services, expanding both companies’ operational capabilities.

Under this partnership, when riders request an UberMoto through the Uber app, their trip can be matched with Shadowfax drivers, who will fulfill these rides using the Shadowfax driver app. Uber assured that there will be no change in the rider experience compared to standard Uber trips, ensuring seamless service for users.

This integration aims to bolster Shadowfax’s bike-taxi operations by increasing the number of available two-wheelers and facilitating service launches in towns where Shadowfax already has a presence. By leveraging Shadowfax’s logistics expertise, Uber seeks to double its overall supply pool by establishing third-party integrations with existing two-wheeler service providers in the logistics sector.

Notably, Uber has already implemented a similar third-party technical integration in New York City, where it onboarded the city’s Yellow Cabs onto its ride-sharing platform, demonstrating the effectiveness of such collaborations.

In addition to this partnership, Shadowfax is preparing for a ₹3,000 crore initial public offering (IPO) aimed at expanding its services for two-wheeler drivers. The company has aspirations to emerge as a significant logistics player in India, offering an app that presents multiple earning opportunities for its drivers. Furthermore, there is a revenue-sharing agreement in place for rides booked on UberMoto that are completed by Shadowfax drivers, aligning the interests of both companies.

As the demand for efficient and flexible transportation solutions continues to rise, this partnership positions both Uber and Shadowfax to capitalize on the growing market for two-wheeler services in India.
