Japanese industrial supplier TRUSCO Nakayama Corporation has engineered a portable, walk-in cooling booth designed to lower body temperature within minutes, offering a novel solution to heat stress faced by outdoor workers during extreme summers. Formally named the “Do Reimon Box,” the single-person cabin is modeled after the cooling mechanisms of frozen food vending machines. It provides localized, rapid cooling to critical areas of the body without requiring permanent infrastructure or specialized mounting.
The stainless-steel booth functions on a standard 100-volt power supply and features built-in casters for easy relocation across construction sites, manufacturing plants, and logistics hubs. Inside the cabin, ambient temperatures are maintained at approximately 15°C. Targeted air jets cooled to roughly 5°C direct chilled air specifically toward the head, neck, and back—key physiological regions responsible for thermoregulation. A typical session of five to ten minutes provides noticeable relief, while an automated timer limits usage to 20 minutes to prevent overcooling.
As rising global temperatures increase heatstroke risks for field labor forces, the system provides a practical interim cooling station during scheduled workplace breaks.
