Swiggy, a leading online food delivery platform, has unveiled Project Next, an initiative aimed at providing career growth opportunities for its 400,000 delivery partners across India. This program, part of Swiggy’s larger Swiggy Skills initiative launched in collaboration with the Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship, focuses on transitioning delivery partners from blue-collar to white-collar roles through skill development and training.
Under Project Next, qualified delivery partners will be trained to onboard and manage Swiggy’s expanding restaurant network, especially in Tier-2 and Tier-3 cities. This transition will allow them to support restaurants on the platform with high-quality services.
In just five weeks, 100 Swiggy delivery partners have transitioned into sales executives, working with 360 restaurants across India. Swiggy aims to extend this program to 150 markets, including cities like Vadodara, Amritsar, Nashik, Agra, and Dharwad, in the coming months.
The broader goal of Swiggy Skills is to facilitate the online upskilling of nearly 240,000 delivery partners and the staff of 200,000 restaurant partners. The initiative will also help 3,000 individuals secure employment in restaurant operations and retail management.
Ravindra Khati, a 27-year-old delivery partner, is one of the success stories, having transitioned to a sales executive role in Sikar, Rajasthan.
