Shivank Agarwal, the co-founder and former chief executive of the short video application Mitron TV, in collaboration with Mohd Amir, the co-founder of the online platform TrainMan, which specializes in train ticket booking and information services, has announced the launch of a conversational artificial intelligence startup, Callmatic, according to sources.
Callmatic, the venture founded by Agarwal and Amir, is a conversational AI startup dedicated to automating the management of both inbound and outbound calls. Its primary objectives are to facilitate lead qualification and to offer scalable customer outreach solutions.
The company’s website highlights its solutions for recruitment, sales, healthcare, and customer support, all leveraging generative AI technology.
Prior to founding Callmatic, Amir served as the senior engineering manager at Microsoft and was a co-founder of TrainMan from October 2013 to March 2019. Goodwater Capital backed-TrainMan was acquired by Adani Digital Labs in 2023.
Callmatic has also attracted over a dozen angel investors, contributing $100,000 (Rs 83.8 lakh) to the startup. The list of investors includes Abhishek Agarwal, Nilesh Ukey, Sumit Gupta, Abhishek Jain, Karan Attri, Kush Mishra, Manasi Jain, Naresh Kumar, Naresh Kumar, Naveen Bansal, Rahul Kumar Sahu, Vineet Chirania, Gaurav Nemade, Gunjan Sharma, among others. These investors have collectively contributed the aforementioned sum to the startup, as confirmed by its records.
Mitron TV was in discussions with a vernacular microblogging platform, Koo, for an acquisition. Koo, which recently ceased its operations, had invested Rs 28.17 crore in Mitron TV through a share swap deal.
It appears that Mitron TV quietly ceased its operations in mid-2022 following the unsuccessful acquisition deal with Koo. The app was among the few companies that capitalized on the market gap left by the ban of TikTok in India. Agarwal’s LinkedIn profile also indicates that he continued to lead Mitron TV until September 2022. Anish Khandelwal, the other co-founder of Mitron TV, rejoined MakeMyTrip in April 2022.
