Founded by an engineer and initial skeptic of astrology, Puneet Gupta, the platform’s beginnings were sparked by personal adversity and a chance encounter with an astrologer.
In 2017, Gupta, an IIT graduate working in the corporate sector, faced career challenges. Curiosity and desperation led him to consult an astrologer, whose surprisingly accurate predictions intrigued Gupta despite his skepticism. This experience ignited Gupta’s interest in astrology, leading him to recognize its potential to provide guidance during uncertain times.
Combining his technical background with this newfound interest, Gupta envisioned a platform to make astrology more accessible and credible. Thus, Astrotalk was born, operating on a B2C model connecting users with professional astrologers.
Astrotalk has since served over 30 million customers, offering services like Vedic astrology, vaastu, tarot card reading, and online puja through a network of over 20,000 astrologers and spiritual practitioners. The platform leverages technology to enhance the accessibility and reliability of astrology services.
The company’s growth has been supported by strategic funding, raising $30.3 million to date. In June 2024, Astrotalk secured $9.5 million in Series A funding led by Elev8 Venture Partners, aimed at expanding regional language offerings, increasing global presence, and improving user experience.
This funding follows an earlier $20 million investment from Left Lane Capital, indicating investor confidence in Astrotalk’s business model and growth potential. In FY24, Astrotalk reported an annual revenue of INR 650 crore and a profit after tax (PAT) of INR 100 crore, a significant increase from the previous year’s revenue of INR 282 crore.
Astrotalk’s innovative approach and robust business model position it as a leading player in the spiritual tech sector, competing with platforms like GaneshaSpeaks, InstraAstro, and Astroyogi. With plans for further expansion and product diversification, Astrotalk is poised to continue its impressive growth trajectory, helping millions navigate their lives with astrological guidance.
