No Land, No Building… Yet This Hospital Keeps Getting Employees

An administrative anomaly has surfaced in Madhya Pradesh, where an approved healthcare facility continues to manage personnel logistics despite lacking a physical structure. Sanctioned in June 2020 to alleviate crowding at nearby medical hubs, the proposed 100-bed Khajrana Civil Hospital in Indore has encountered prolonged delays because regional authorities failed to secure real estate. Consequently, while construction never commenced, the institution’s digital profile remains active on state portals, even recording a laboratory technician transfer as recently as June 15, 2026.

The state initially authorized 87 medical and administrative positions to serve over three lakh residents. Chief Medical and Health Officer Dr. Madhav Hasani clarified that because possession of municipal plots stalled, the appointed workforce had to be redeployed to alternative local clinics. Deputy Chief Minister and Health Minister Rajendra Shukla addressed the structural gridlock, noting that the original plan faced revisions. “The sanctioned posts continue to appear on the departmental portal. The CMHO can attach the paramedical staff to nearby Sanjeevani Clinics. We are actively searching for land for the 50-bed hospital,” Shukla stated. Meanwhile, nearby high-capacity municipal emergency wards face sustained operational pressure due to the local infrastructure deficit.
