The Jaipur Police have unraveled a complex murder conspiracy following the death of a 45-year-old court clerk on July 3 in the city’s Pratap Nagar area. Investigators have arrested seven individuals, including the victim’s 23-year-old daughter, Ayushi Sharma, her uncle Mohan Swaroop, and several hired accomplices. A primary co-conspirator, Balram alias Ravi, currently evades capture.
The victim, Neeraj Sharma, was struck by a speeding Scorpio traveling at an estimated 130 km/h while returning from a coaching center. Although initially appearing to be a hit-and-run, subsequent CCTV analysis exposed a coordinated ambush. Local authorities revealed that the underlying motive stemmed from a bitter multi-year property dispute and professional jealousy. Following the death of Neeraj’s husband a year prior, she had accepted a compassionate government appointment as a lower division clerk—a position her daughter intensely coveted.
DCP East Ranjita Sharma disclosed that Ayushi, alongside her uncle and cousin, allegedly outsourced the killing to contract hitmen for a fee of ₹7 lakh. Prior to the fatal collision, the group conducted extensive surveillance on the victim using a rented Thar SUV before executing the final strike with the Scorpio. A formal case was registered following a complaint by the victim’s brother, who confirmed prior domestic harassment.
