Geotech startup MapMyIndia has filed a legal notice against Ola, alleging data theft and unauthorized use of its licensed map products. The notice accuses Ola of co-mingling and reverse engineering MapMyIndia’s proprietary data.
MapMyIndia has dismissed Ola’s claims that its API and map data for Ola Maps were developed exclusively using open map technology. This dispute arises shortly after Ola fully transitioned from Google Maps to its proprietary navigation platform, Ola Maps.
The legal action highlights MapMyIndia’s concerns over the alleged misuse of its licensed technology and seeks to address the company’s claims of improper handling and integration of its data by Ola. The case underscores the ongoing tension in the tech industry over intellectual property and data rights.
