Indian Army Signs Major Deal With Zoho To Build Indigenous Military Tech

The Indian Army has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Zoho Corporation in a move aimed at accelerating its digital transformation and strengthening indigenous technology development. The agreement aligns with the Army’s broader #JAI vision, which focuses on Jointness, Aatmanirbharta and Innovation across the armed forces.

According to the Army, the partnership seeks to promote application-oriented research and development while creating secure, sustainable and indigenous digital solutions tailored to military requirements. The collaboration is also expected to enhance technology-driven skill development among Army personnel and support the force’s transition into a future-ready organisation.

The MoU was signed by Lieutenant General Harsh Chhibber, Director General Information Systems (DGIS), and Rajendran Dandapani, Director of Engineering at Zoho Corporation. The signing ceremony was attended by Vice Chief of Army Staff Lieutenant General Upendra Dwivedi and Zoho founder Sridhar Vembu, among other senior officials.

In an official statement, the Indian Army said, “The partnership aims to foster application-oriented research & development, develop secure and sustainable digital solutions and enhance technology-driven skill sets within the Indian Army, accelerating its transformation into a future-ready, digitally empowered force.”

The agreement reflects the Army’s increasing emphasis on leveraging domestic technological capabilities for operational efficiency, cybersecurity and digital infrastructure. It also supports the government’s wider push for self-reliance in strategic sectors, including defence and advanced technology, while encouraging greater collaboration between the armed forces and Indian technology companies.
