The Securities and Exchange Board of India (SEBI) has banned industrialist Anil Ambani along with its 24 other entities, including officials of Reliance Home Finance for five years in a case of fund Diversion. SEBI imposed a hefty amount of Rs 25 crore fine on Ambani, restricting him from any sort of association with the securities market and also restrained him from serving as a director or Key Managerial Personnel (KMP) in any listed company or intermediary, for 05 years.
The apex body’s investigation uncovered that the industrialist, with top executives of Reliance Home Finance Limited (RHFL), orchestrated a scheme to siphon funds from RHFL Amit Bapna, Ravindra Sudhalkar, and Pinkesh R Shah, who were key figures in the fraud, were fined Rs 27 crore, Rs 26 crore, and Rs 21 crore, respectively. Entities such as Reliance Unicorn Enterprises, Reliance Exchange Next Ltd, Reliance Commercial Finance Ltd, Reliance Cleangen Ltd, Reliance Business Broadcast News Holdings Ltd, and Reliance Big Entertainment Pvt Ltd also faced Rs 25 crore fines separately.
This impacted the shares of Reliance Power, Reliance Home Finance, and Reliance Infrastructure where a sharp decline has been seen. At 12:05 pm, Reliance Infrastructure’s stock had dropped over 10% to Rs 210.64 on NSE, while Reliance Home Finance’s shares by 5.12% to Rs 4.45.
