First Look of Sourav Ganguly Biopic Starring Rajkummar Rao Unveiled on Cricketer’s 54th Birthday

A highly anticipated sports biopic charting the trajectory of former Indian cricket captain Sourav Ganguly has officially revealed its introductory visual asset. Timed to coincide with the legendary sportsman’s 54th birthday, the production team released the first-look promotional poster for the biographical drama, officially titled Dada – The Sourav Ganguly Story.

The premier image features lead actor Rajkummar Rao embodying Ganguly during one of international cricket’s most famous historical moments. The scene meticulously recreates the iconic, high-energy celebration from the Lord’s Cricket Ground balcony, where a shirtless Ganguly enthusiastically swirled his team jersey following India’s historic comeback victory against England in the 2002 NatWest Series final. Celebrating the asset drop, Rao shared the image via social media with a concise message stating, “Happy Birthday, our dearest Dada.” Ganguly immediately reciprocated the gesture online, offering public encouragement by commenting, “The best gift ever! Can’t wait to see you play my cover drive!”

Helmed by critically acclaimed filmmaker Vikramaditya Motwane, the biographical film traces Ganguly’s evolution from a promising regional batsman into a transformative national team leader. The cinematic venture is being produced by Luv Ranjan and Ankur Garg under the Luv Films banner, with a locked global theatrical release scheduled for May 14, 2027.
