The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and its ally Maharashtrawadi Gomantak Party (MGP) secured a decisive mandate in the Goa Zilla Panchayat elections, emerging as the leading alliance across the state. Chief Minister Pramod Sawant hailed the outcome as a strong endorsement of the BJP-led government’s governance model and grassroots outreach.
In a post on X, Sawant thanked voters for placing their trust in the BJP–MGP (NDA) alliance and congratulated newly elected Zilla Panchayat members. He said the results reflected public confidence in the “double-engine sarkar” and credited party workers for taking the government’s development vision to the grassroots. He added that the BJP-led alliance would focus on accelerating inclusive development, strengthening transparency, and working towards a “Viksit Goa.”
Prime Minister Narendra Modi also welcomed the verdict, stating that Goa had stood with good governance and progressive politics. Thanking the people of the state for their support, he said the mandate would energise efforts to boost growth and fulfil citizens’ aspirations. Modi also praised NDA karyakartas for their on-ground work, noting that their sustained efforts played a key role in the electoral outcome.
The results are being viewed by the ruling alliance as a significant reinforcement of its political standing in the state ahead of future electoral contests.
