Amazon India has entered into a significant partnership with the Ministry of Labour and Employment to post available job opportunities on the National Career Service (NCS) portal. This collaboration, marked by the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU), is set for an initial period of two years. Through this initiative, Amazon becomes the first e-commerce company to work with the Labour Ministry, aiming to connect job seekers with employment opportunities in the fast-growing e-commerce sector.
The NCS portal, which currently has over 60 lakh active job seekers and 33.50 lakh active employers, is designed to bridge the gap between job seekers and providers across various roles and levels. By leveraging this platform, job seekers can now view and apply for work opportunities at Amazon and its staffing agencies, boosting the visibility of Amazon’s available roles in both operational and corporate sectors.
In a statement, Amazon emphasized that the collaboration aligns with its vision of connecting individuals across India with career prospects that match their skills. Union Minister of Labour and Employment, Mansukh Mandaviya, expressed confidence in the partnership’s potential to unlock new employment opportunities, especially for India’s youth.
The MoU also focuses on inclusivity, promoting jobs for women and divyang (differently-abled) candidates, ensuring equal access to employment. To further enhance the employment drive, Amazon will participate in job fairs organized at Model Career Centres (MCCs), allowing candidates to interact directly with its recruitment teams. The Ministry has committed to assisting in organizing these job fairs across India.
Additionally, the Labour Ministry is in the process of upgrading the NCS portal with advanced technologies like Artificial Intelligence (AI) to create a more user-friendly platform for job seekers and employers.
Currently, Amazon India employs over 1.2 lakh individuals in roles spanning fulfilment centres, corporate positions, machine learning, software development, and more. Recently, the company announced over 1,10,000 seasonal jobs ahead of its festive season sales.
