Amazon has forged a strategic partnership with India Post, aiming to bolster its last-mile delivery capabilities across all pin codes in India. This collaboration, formalized through a memorandum of understanding (MoU), is designed to streamline operations and optimize resource utilization, especially in remote and rural areas where delivery challenges persist.
The partnership comes at a time when Amazon seeks to enhance the speed and efficiency of its services. Over the past two to three years, the presence of India Post within Amazon’s logistics framework has expanded significantly, with pickup points increasing from six to thirteen across the country. This growth underlines Amazon’s commitment to improving its delivery infrastructure, ensuring customers receive their orders promptly.
Abhinav Singh, Vice President of Operations at Amazon India, emphasized the importance of the partnership, stating, “Our relationship with India Post has been a pivotal part of Amazon’s growth story in India and has contributed to making ecommerce a nationwide phenomenon.” He noted that joining forces with India Post, an institution with decades of service, has consistently helped set new benchmarks in logistics and customer service.
This development follows a recent MoU between Amazon India and the Ministry of Labour and Employment, aimed at promoting job opportunities through the National Career Service (NCS) portal. Additionally, to capitalize on the upcoming festive season, Amazon has increased commissions for over 50,000 creators within its influencer marketing network and recently launched three new fulfillment centers in Delhi NCR, Guwahati, and Patna, thereby supporting more than 250,000 sellers in the region. Last year, during the festive season sale, Amazon and its platforms recorded a gross merchandise value (GMV) of approximately INR 47,000 crore, reflecting a 19% year-on-year growth.
