Adani Airport Holdings Limited (AAHL) has announced an ambitious infrastructure program to construct integrated airport cities across its domestic network. Spearheaded by its wholly-owned subsidiary, Adani Airport City Limited (AACL), the massive initiative will focus on developing seamlessly connected, walkable urban districts encompassing premium hospitality, retail, commercial workspaces, entertainment, and major convention facilities.
The extensive project encompasses a collective land bank of over 655 acres distributed across six primary airports in five Indian states. Approximately 22 million square feet of mixed-use infrastructure will be established during the initial phase across Mumbai, Navi Mumbai, Ahmedabad, Lucknow, Jaipur, and Guwahati. Reflecting the financial importance of the Mumbai Metropolitan Region, nearly 70% of the entire initial capital allocation will be concentrated in Mumbai and Navi Mumbai, which alone account for 440 acres of the total land parcel.
“Around the world, the most successful airport districts have become centres of commerce, tourism and urban growth. As India’s aviation market expands, airports have an opportunity to create value far beyond aviation. We are creating a network of integrated urban destinations where airports become catalysts for investment, employment, better passenger experiences and the long-term growth of the cities they serve,” stated Jeet Adani, Director of AAHL. Drawing structural inspiration from global benchmarks like Singapore’s Changi and London’s Heathrow, the districts are being mapped alongside leading design partners as natural economic extensions of the local transit ecosystem.
