In a strategic move to bolster its silicon design and engineering capabilities, Accenture has announced the acquisition of Bengaluru-based Excelmax Technologies. This marks Accenture’s first acquisition in India’s silicon design sector, although financial details of the transaction were not disclosed.
Excelmax Technologies, founded in 2019, provides custom silicon solutions for a range of industries, including automotive, telecommunications, and high-tech sectors. The company’s expertise spans consumer devices, data centers, artificial intelligence (AI), and computational platforms for edge AI deployments. This acquisition will bring approximately 450 highly skilled engineers from Excelmax into Accenture’s fold, further enhancing its capabilities in physical and RTL design, verification, emulation, and firmware engineering.
Mahesh Zurale, Global Lead of Accenture’s Advanced Technology Centres Global Network, stated, “Accenture’s acquisition of Excelmax Technologies brings approximately 450 highly skilled silicon professionals to our Advanced Technology Centres in India. With the global demand for silicon solutions on the rise, India is becoming a hotbed for chip design. Growing our skilled talent in the country across physical and RTL design, verification, emulation, and firmware engineering will help us expand our capabilities in the silicon design space and accelerate innovation for our worldwide clients.”
This acquisition is part of Accenture’s broader strategy to expand its semiconductor design services globally. In 2022, Accenture acquired XtremeEDA, an Ottawa, Canada-based silicon design services company, signaling its commitment to strengthening its semiconductor capabilities.
Excelmax’s comprehensive semiconductor solutions range from high-level design to detailed physical layout ready for manufacturing, offering full turnkey execution. The integration of Excelmax’s team will significantly enhance Accenture’s ability to support global clients in accelerating edge computing innovation.
Accenture’s acquisition of Excelmax Technologies underscores the growing importance of India in the global chip design market. With this strategic move, Accenture aims to leverage the expertise of Excelmax’s team to drive innovation and deliver advanced silicon solutions to its global clientele.
