PM Modi on Thursday delivered the closing address at the 2nd WHO Global Summit on Traditional Medicine at Bharat Mandapam in New Delhi, reaffirming India’s commitment to advancing traditional medicine as an evidence-based and globally relevant healthcare system.
Addressing policymakers, researchers and practitioners from across the world, Modi said traditional medicine represents “humanity’s collective wisdom, refined over centuries through lived experience and harmony with nature,” and offers sustainable solutions to modern health challenges. Emphasising the summit’s theme, he noted that Ayurveda defines health as balance, adding that many contemporary diseases arise from imbalances in lifestyle, diet, sleep and emotional well-being.
The Prime Minister highlighted the growing convergence of tradition and technology, stating that when combined, their capacity to strengthen global health outcomes increases significantly. He also pointed to India’s efforts to integrate artificial intelligence and digital tools with traditional medicine to expand research, diagnosis and evidence-based practice.
During the event, Narendra Modi launched the My Ayush Integrated Services Portal to provide citizens seamless digital access to Ayush services and unveiled the Ayush Mark as a global quality benchmark for Ayush products and services. He also felicitated recipients of the Prime Minister’s Awards for Yoga.
