Swedish caller identification and spam-blocking app Truecaller has appointed Rishit Jhunjhunwala, the current Chief of Products and Managing Director of its India division, as the new Chief Executive Officer. Jhunjhunwala, a key player in Truecaller since 2015, will assume his new role on January 9, 2025, following the planned departure of CEO Alan Mamedi.
Co-founders Alan Mamedi and Nami Zarringhalam, who have led Truecaller since its inception, announced in a letter that they would be stepping back from operational duties by June 30, 2025. Transitioning into advisory and board roles, they plan to shift their focus towards Truecaller’s long-term strategy, enabling Jhunjhunwala and the senior leadership team to lead day-to-day operations and further the company’s expansion efforts.
In addition to the leadership update, Truecaller revealed a strong financial performance, with quarterly net sales rising 15% year-over-year to 457 million Swedish crowns ($42.21 million). This growth reflects increasing demand for the platform’s caller identification and spam-blocking services, particularly as Truecaller expands its user base and monetization strategies globally.
As CEO, Jhunjhunwala is expected to leverage his experience in product innovation to drive Truecaller’s growth, especially in key markets like India, where he has been instrumental in the company’s success.
