Bengaluru-based biotechnology firm Cambrian Bioworks has raised $1.45 million in its seed funding round. The round was led by the Irani family office, known for its investments in various private ventures globally. Additionally, Cambrian’s CEO and co-founder, Vaibhav Hegde, also participated in this round.

The newly acquired funds will be utilized to enhance the development of Cambrian’s automated molecular diagnostics platforms, advance research and development efforts, expand the team, and support entry into international markets.

Cambrian Bioworks, established by Hegde, Rohit Asil, and Raghav Sridhar, focuses on creating automated molecular diagnostic tools. The company’s products are used in oncology, genomics, rare disease testing, and antimicrobial resistance (AMR) detection. Recently, Cambrian launched Manta, a nucleic acid extraction platform designed to provide high-quality DNA/RNA for genomics and PCR testing in healthcare settings.

This investment follows a notable trend where founders invest in their own startups, a pattern observed with companies like Byju’s, OYO, and BluSmart, and more recently with Yubi and Ather Energy.
