Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah, during a dinner meeting with Foxconn CEO Young Liu on Friday, extended full government support to the Taiwanese electronics giant and encouraged further investments in the state. Siddaramaiah emphasized Karnataka’s robust position in the Electronics System Design and Manufacturing (ESDM) sector, which significantly contributes to India’s electronics manufacturing and exports.
He praised the ongoing Foxconn projects in the state, including the iPhone assembly plant (Project Elephant), set to bring over 50,000 jobs with a total investment of Rs 22,000 crore. The plant spans 300 acres in the ITIR Industrial Area, Bengaluru Rural District. Siddaramaiah assured that the government is actively facilitating the project’s needs, such as securing necessary approvals and ensuring dedicated power and water supply.
Additionally, Foxconn’s Project Cheetah, aimed at manufacturing mechanical components for electric vehicles, is being set up on leased land in Bengaluru District. Karnataka’s Deputy CM D.K. Shivakumar, Minister for Large and Medium Industries M.B. Patil, IT Minister Priyank Kharge, and other officials were also present at the meeting.
Siddaramaiah reiterated the state’s commitment to nurturing a favorable environment for investment, underscoring the partnership’s potential for mutual growth and economic prosperity.
