Subrat Kar, the seasoned entrepreneur who previously founded Vidooly, has announced his new venture, MotorFloor, an online marketplace for commercial vehicles in India.
After successfully selling Vidooly to the Good Glamm Group, Kar is now focusing on creating a comprehensive platform that caters to a wide range of commercial vehicles, including trucks, tractors, buses, three-wheelers, and electric commercial vehicles.
MotorFloor aims to simplify the purchasing process for both individual buyers and business owners across eight industry domains: construction, infrastructure, mining, transportation, travel, FMCG, e-commerce, and small businesses. The platform provides detailed specifications, on-road prices, features, and other critical information to help customers make informed decisions. Additionally, buyers can consult vehicle experts and explore financing options, all in one place.
“Currently, if someone wants to buy a commercial goods or passenger vehicle, they often have to travel long distances and visit multiple dealers for the best price and speak to various banks and NBFCs for financing. Oftentimes, these customers are misguided by sales executives. We’re building MotorFloor to help customers make better-informed decisions,” said Subrat Kar.
Currently self-funded, MotorFloor operates with a 25-member team based in Bhubaneswar. The platform plans to expand into the offline segment with seven experience centers across Eastern India. These multi-brand centers will offer unbiased expert opinions, test drives of various models, and quick financing options. Customers buying through MotorFloor will benefit from better deals, end-to-end service, loan and insurance facilities from partnered BFSI companies, and an enhanced buying and ownership experience.
MotorFloor is also set to cater to the needs of Commercial Vehicle OEMs and Auto Ancillary companies by providing value-driven marketing solutions that reach audiences beyond Tier 2 towns in India. Recognizing the price sensitivity of rural customers, especially farmers, the company is adopting an omnichannel approach, combining online presence with physical touchpoints throughout the buying journey.
To support this strategy, MotorFloor has deployed a strong network of rural marketing agents across three states and plans to expand further in the coming months. The company has partnered with four banks NBFCs and three insurance companies to ensure a seamless purchasing experience for its customers.
MotorFloor’s innovative approach and comprehensive services are poised to transform the commercial vehicle market in India, offering a more accessible and transparent buying process for customers across the country.
