Brij Bhushan, the co-founder and former COO of Magicpin, has returned to the venture capital space, joining Prime Venture Partners (PrimeVP) as a full-time venture partner. In his new role, Bhushan will play a critical role in investment decision-making, portfolio management, and fundraising efforts for the early-stage venture capital firm, PrimeVP said in a press release.
Bhushan brings substantial experience to PrimeVP, having previously worked as Vice President at Nexus Venture Partners before co-founding Magicpin. During his time at Magicpin, Bhushan was instrumental in the company’s growth trajectory, helping raise over $100 million from investors, including Lightspeed, Zomato, and Waterbridge. His background also includes strategic roles at Bain & Co., further strengthening his expertise in scaling startups.
Commenting on his new role, Bhushan said, “I’m excited to return to VC, where I can help founders navigate their journeys, leveraging my experiences alongside a team that truly understands what it takes to get a company off the ground.”
In conjunction with Bhushan’s arrival, PrimeVP also announced the promotion of Gaurav Ranjan to principal of investments. Ranjan has been with PrimeVP for six years, having served as an associate and later as vice president.
Prime Venture Partners, led by Sanjay Swamy, Shripati Acharya, and Amit Somani, has invested in more than 50 startups over the past 12 years. These include successful ventures like WheelsEye, MyGate, Quizizz, PlanetSpark, and Dozee. The firm has achieved several major exits, such as Happay’s acquisition by Cred, Recko’s acquisition by Stripe, Ezetap’s acquisition by Razorpay, and Tracxn’s IPO.
