Ola Electric is expected to introduce its new electric three-wheeler this year at a pricing point that is expected to be cheaper than Bajaj Auto’s EV three-wheeler. The three-wheeler is likely to have multiple category-first features that offer more room and convenience than existing electric three-wheelers in the market.
The three-wheeler has been given the provisional name “Raahi,” which translates to “traveler,” according to an ET Auto story. Ola’s electric three-wheeler will go up against well-known competitors in the market, including the Mahindra Treo, Bajaj RE, and Piaggio Ape e-city.
ET Auto was able to collect photographs of the Ola EV three-wheeler, which has a basic design to optimize space and functionality. Square headlights, a huge windshield, ORVMs positioned on the A-pillar, and cabin doors are all visible in the front profile. According to the ET story, Ola plans to introduce a freight carrier version of its electric three-wheeler alongside the passenger model. It is said that the commercial version will have a large loading bay that can be customized to fit various customer needs.
Bhavish Aggarwal, MD and Chairman of Ola Electric suggested that the company plans to release the three-wheeler in the market shortly during an interview with CNBC-TV18 on September 5. “Three-wheeler has always been on our radar from the beginning of Ola Electric. We have also showcased some technology focus on this, and our entire manufacturing technology strength that we have built-in two-wheelers is going to be easily transferable to three-wheelers when we choose to bring out our products,” he added.
The first production run of a three-wheeler is anticipated to accelerate the company’s route to profitability because of the enormous margins in the industry and Ola’s vertical integration of motors, software, and battery cells.
