MWC is the biggest mobile industry trade show or can be called as biggest mobile event in the world. In MWC (Mobile World Congress) 2018 the launch of many of the top smartphones, tablets and smartwatches as well as emergence of the latest technology in the trend of mobile world, such as 5G and other technologies can be seen. It attracted more than 100,000 people to Barcelona to know about the latest in mobile phones and related technologies. MWC 2018 was from 26 February 2018 to 1 March 2018 at Fira de Barcelona. To be frank, all the techno giants attend Mobile World Congress (MWC) in one way or another. The exception is Apple, yet its shadow could be noticed. Apple’s iPhone was noticed of being copied like never before in the show. MWC 2018 was filled with a mass of iPhone X mark copies. Each copy was more or less copied.
Trend of Notch
Copying or borrowing ideas from others in mobile industry is quite common. The activity of copying of borrowing in mobile industry could help to come up with some technical improvements. But, preparing an entire clone could not last in the present market of the world. Apple provides a borderless screen to the users with iPhone X. It comes with the earpiece and TrueDepth camera for Face ID. But, this ‘notching’ has now become trend as the entire mobile industry is trying to copy it.
Asus
Asus announced launch of Zenfone 5 series with Zenfone 5 Lite, Zenfone 5 and Zenfone 5z. The looks of Zenfone 5 and Zenfone 5z comes with a trending ‘notch’ design. Though Zenfone 5 can be considered a promising phone with a price somewhere around $499, it seems copying Apple by saying it as a “Fruit Company”. Such an activity of copying a phone can bring a tag of the Apple ‘copycat’ to them. Zenfone 5 also has a vertical dual camera which is all in vain.
Copying a phone is way different from perfection. Unlike Apple, the notch on the Asus Zenfone 5 and Zenfone 5z comes “26 percent” smaller. But, it does not contain sensors as Apple does. It does not allow you to use Face ID using biometric authentication on notch, but Face Unlock feature along with fingerprint sensor on the rear side. A group of Asus, Ulefone, Doogee and Noa will face opprobrium in the market.
LG
LG G7 is its next flagship device in the market which will be officially launched in June. Some leaked images of LG G7 are legitimate. This year, LG is back with a promising flagship device but it will be launched three months late. LG G7 is found redesigning its phone similar to iPhone X. You can look at the image and decide yourself whether it seems iPhone X clone. LG, will too come with an excuse for redesigning look of G7 similar to iPhone X.
Huawei
Huawei’s flagship device P20 is scheduled to launch in late March. Just as LG and Asus, P20 is also found copying iPhone X. Both front and back of P20 seems clone of iPhone X. Huawei fixed position of rear camera in the same orientation and position as on the iPhone X. But, on front, it is found with different kind of notch which is something different from iPhone X. In 2018, notch designs will fill the mobile market. OnePlus 6 is also found joining this trend.
Developing their ideas
Samsung, HMD Global and Sony tried to come up with a borderless design in the past. These companies developed and sticked to their idea and design. But, others are trying to rush to notch iPhone X hardware in their devices.
Effect of Notch
Every phone manufacturer opted to pursue minimalist design trending in the market to provide maximum screen size to the end-users. But, what about originality, features, perfection and sensibility? Apple came with a revolution by creating iPhone X with its signature mark. Others will be using this ‘notch’, but as it is ‘copying’, it won’t last long. Users can easily recognize difference between all notches. In 2018, you will come up with number of Android devices with an iPhone look. It cannot be considered as an alternate because it is totally different from considering equal in terms of features.
