NTP researchers started their research by exposing mice and rats at high levels of radio frequency radiation for nine hours in a day. They continued this research for two years constantly.
After such exposure, they found that about 5-7 percent of the male rats developed malignant schwannomas (nerve tumor) in their hearts. Besides this, 2-3 percent of the male rats developed malignant gliomas, which is a type of brain cancer. But, none of the hares in this study developed this conditions.
From the above results, agency can easily conclude that there is “clear evidence“. There’s a connection between cell phone use and cancer. For being certain, cell phone use has a direct connection with brain tumors and heart schwannomas.

The Question still continues
Since 1999, NTP has been working on this study, and today’s call phones no longer uses the same level of radio frequency. If you are still using a 2G phone, radio waves emitted by your phone can have a lot of trouble in passing through the human body.
Also, they don’t think that hares’ exposure to the radiation could be relatable to that of a human using a cell phone.
According to John Bucher, rats and mice in their study faced radio frequency radiation across their entire bodies. In contrast, humans using smartphones are exposed to specific local tissues that are near to the position of holding the phone. Also, the level of radiation and its duration in their study was comparatively high than a normal human exposure.
Ultimately, even after spending $30 million in research, and after about two long decades, NTP is leaving us with complicated results. So, the question of connection between our smartphones and health still exists.
