Union Home Minister Amit Shah launched a nationwide Online Drugs Disposal Fortnight Campaign, setting an ambitious target to destroy 209,500 kilograms of seized narcotic substances valued at more than ₹6,000 crore. The initiative was unveiled during the 10th Apex-Level Meeting of the National Committee on Drug Law Enforcement (NCORD) in New Delhi as part of the government’s intensified campaign against drug trafficking.
During the meeting, Shah also released the Vision Document on Narcotics Control, which outlines a technology-driven and intelligence-based strategy to strengthen India’s anti-narcotics framework over the next three years. The roadmap emphasizes enhanced coordination among enforcement agencies, improved data sharing, and the use of advanced technology to dismantle drug trafficking networks.
Sharing details of the initiative, Shah said, “A comprehensive, time-bound guideline to achieve Modi Ji’s mission against narcotic drugs, the document capitalises on the modern, intelligence-led, tech-driven and network-centric approach of our anti-narcotics apparatus to deal a lethal blow to the menace.”
He added, “Crafted to detect, disrupt and destroy the evil, the strategy lays down the roadmap for the next three years to build an unbreachable bulwark shielding our youth from the claws of the drug cartels.”
The Home Minister also inaugurated the Narcotics Control Bureau’s zonal office in Guwahati and a new office building in Jammu, reinforcing the government’s commitment to strengthening anti-drug enforcement infrastructure across the country.
