Food Tech Firm Pluckk Acquires Nutrition Brand Upnourish for $1.4M

Food tech firm Pluckk has acquired Indian nutrition startup, Upnourish for $1.4 million. With this acquisition, it intends to broaden its product line and focus on developing a new nutrition-focused vertical.

Pratik Gupta, CEO of Pluckk has stated, “By adding a nutrition dimension, we’re taking our commitment to providing the best quality fresh food to Pluckk’s customers to the next level”.

“With Pluckk’s commitment to clean and fresh produce, Upnourish will elevate its offerings, enabling holistic health for a much larger audience”, stated Co-founder and chief nutritionist of Upnourish, Aayushi Lakhapati.

Business Head and Co-founder of Upnourish, Kounal Lakhapati said, “India’s share in the global nutrition category is poised to grow 6X from 2 per cent to 12 per cent by 2029. We are thrilled to join hands with Pluckk in this exciting new chapter. Pluckk’s commitment to delivering clean, fresh, high-quality produce, combined with Upnourish’s innovative and convenient nutritional products, positions us to make people leaner, fitter, and bolder.”

The Ayushi Lakhapati and Kounal Lakhapati-led nutrition firm, Upnourish was founded in 2021. The firm offers customized nutrition regimens along with meals that can be consumed on the move, like smoothies, soups, and bars. It uses a “farm-to-table” model to sell fruits, vegetables, meal packages, juices, dips, soups, smoothies, and salads. It operates out of Pune, Bengaluru, Mumbai, and Delhi. Along with rapid commerce and e-commerce sites like Amazon, Zepto, Blinkit, Flipkart Minutes, Swiggy Instamart, and Zepto, it sells the products through its app and website.

The business had raised $5 million from Exponentia Ventures in its seed round as of January 2022. Bollywood actress Kareena Kapoor Khan contributed an undisclosed sum of money to the firm last year.
