The Nasscom Responsible AI Hub, in collaboration with Anand and Anand, launched The Developer’s Playbook for Responsible AI in India during the inaugural Confluence for Responsible Intelligence (RICON) in New Delhi. This initiative underscores a joint commitment by Nasscom and the Government of India to foster responsible AI development while mitigating risks associated with its deployment.
The playbook serves as a voluntary guide for developers to:
- Identify potential risks in AI solutions.
- Mitigate challenges through aligned best practices.
- Integrate ethics and responsibility into AI innovation.
The framework has been rigorously validated by experts and stakeholders from industry, government, academia, and civil society, ensuring a comprehensive approach to ethical AI practices that align with societal interests.
In his foreword, Shri Abhishek Singh, Additional Secretary at the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology and CEO of the IndiaAI Mission, emphasized the playbook’s alignment with the Safe and Trusted AI pillar. He stated, “The playbook equips innovators with the guidance they need to adopt responsible AI methodologies while evolving approaches to AI development and deployment.”
Nasscom’s Sangeeta Gupta, Senior VP and Chief Strategy Officer, called the playbook a practical guide for embedding responsible AI principles in development workflows. Ankit Bose, Head of AI at Nasscom, and Dr. Ajai Garg from Anand and Anand, echoed similar sentiments, stressing the strategic importance of ethical AI practices for positioning India as a global AI leader.
The playbook bridges public and private sector AI risk frameworks, aligning them with India’s broader mission to develop safe, ethical, and globally competitive AI solutions. With AI rapidly influencing various industries, this framework represents a milestone in risk management and ethical innovation for India’s AI ecosystem.
