The IP head of BookMyShow, Kunal Khambhati, and the previous live events manager of the company have joined Zomato to strengthen its “going out” sector ahead of the launch of its District app.
Khambhati supervised live events and intellectual property creation for all markets, including India, Indonesia, and Sri Lanka, throughout her more than seven years of employment with BookMyShow.
Kunal Khambhati is set to join the group of senior executives that Zomato has hired in order to support its exit strategy. Rahul Ganjoo and Pradyot Ghate, who resigned from Zomato in 2023, were rehired by the company in July. The two executives are expected to lead the going-out firm, according to reports from back then.
Zomato founder and CEO Deepinder Goyal recently stated in an interview with Moneycontrol that the firm intends to modernize stadiums around the nation to give patrons attending live events a better experience. He stated, “We’ll have to (build stadiums) at some point. Otherwise, the song, the artists, the work, and the experience will not be worthwhile. We won’t build like a Zomato stadium but we will partner with someone and propose to upgrade the infrastructure and give the stadium a facelift. We can take care of the capex, and in exchange ask for 40 rental-free days in a year.”
Since August, Zomato has been hinting at the release of a new app called “District” for the going-out company. Customers will be able to use the app to find and reserve restaurants as well as tickets for live performances, sporting events, and movies, among other things.
