Apple supplier Jabil plans to invest INR 2,000 Cr to construct an electronics manufacturing facility in Trichy, Tamil Nadu. This development was announced by Tamil Nadu Chief Minister MK Stalin on Tuesday, September 10, on X. He highlighted it as one of three significant announcements that the state administration had managed to secure.
“Jabil, a world leader in EMS, has made a substantial investment of INR 2,000 Cr at Tiruchirapalli. In a post on X, he claimed that this would generate 5,000 employees and establish a new electronics manufacturing cluster.
The state delegation from Tamil Nadu and Jabil officials signed the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU). Tamil Nadu is currently home to several significant Apple suppliers, including Foxconn, Pegatron, Tata Electronics, and Corning, following Jabil’s arrival into the state. One of the first big investments in the region will be made by Jabil, a supplier to Cisco and HP, which will open a sizable new factory in Trichy. This plan is anticipated to establish a new electronics cluster with Tata Electronics, like the ones in Sriperumbudur and Hosur. In addition to Jabil, the minister announced that the state had secured two other investments: an agreement with Autodesk that aims to skill youth and support MSMEs and startups, bolstering the overall industrial ecosystem; and Rockwell Automation will expand its manufacturing in Kanchipuram with an INR 666 Cr investment, creating 365 jobs.
Foxconn, Wistron, Tata Electronics, and Kaynes Technology are among the electronics corporations that have greatly increased their presence in India in recent times. This news comes after rumors that Foxconn, an Apple supplier, intends to increase its Karnataka investment to INR 13,911 Cr ($1.67 billion).
