VerSe Innovation, Dailyhunt and Josh’s parent company, has acquired the digital marketing firm Valueleaf Group, in a deal including cash and equity.

This strategic move is expected to significantly enhance VerSe’s expansion prospects, with an expected increase in revenue of $100 million and a 10% Earnings Before Interest, Taxes, Depreciation, and Amortization (EBITDA) margin in FY25, as stated in the company’s press release.

The integration of Valueleaf Group into VerSe Innovation is set to create substantial synergies by combining the advertising technology stack and data management platform of VerSe Innovation with those of Valueleaf Group, in addition to leveraging Valueleaf’s robust performance data, extensive supply-side integrations, and specialized industry solutions. This strategic alliance is expected to deliver superior Return on Ad Spend (ROAS) for advertisers, as stated in the press release.

Cofounders of VerSe, Umang Bedi and Virendra Gupta, said in a joint statement, “The acquisition of Valueleaf Group will position us for substantial revenue growth. With the integration of Valueleaf’s data-driven insights with our ad tech platform, we anticipate a marked increase in advertising efficiency and effectiveness, driving higher-value partnerships.”

Notably, in April, VerSe Innovation acquired Magzter, a global digital newsstand boasting a comprehensive collection of over 8,500 premium magazines and newspapers. This acquisition marks Verse Innovation’s entry into the premium content market, positioning itself as a leading digital media technology conglomerate in India.

Vernacular news platform Dailyhunt has raised over $1.5 billion across various funding rounds, with its most recent valuation at $5 billion, achieved in its last equity round in April 2022, which saw it secure $805 million led by the Canada Pension Plan Investment Board.

In terms of financial performance, VerSe Innovation’s total revenue witnessed a 57% YoY growth to reach Rs 1,809 crore in FY23, a significant increase from the revenue of Rs 1,151 crore in FY22. However, the company reported losses of Rs 2,059 crore for FY23. It is important to note that VerSe Innovation has not yet filed its audited financial statements for FY24.
